Going To The Cener of the Land DownUnder
One of my goals is to get better at this whole blog thing...using diligence, determination and alliteration. Things have been active here in Portland. We leave tomorrow for a two week mission trip to central OZ. I don't think we have ever taken on the task of driving 39 hours as a family. This trip will be one of many firsts:
- This is our first family mission trip. We will be doing some work at a dorm school in Alice Springs. You may recognize this place from your local Outback Steakhouse menu. Alice Springs is a community in Central Oz that has a large aboriginal population.
- We will also spend some time in the aboriginal communities (in the real outback of Australia) with some missionaries we support through GIA.
- Along the way we will be staying in Coober Pedy. Coober Pedy is know for its opal mines and heat! Our hotel is underground. Well, dug into a side of a mountain.
- We will get to see Ayers Rock (Uluru) and Kings Canyon (two beautiful landmarks).

I will fill in more details when we get back.
Thanks for praying for our family,
